Senior Care Program Takes Music and Exercise to the Community

Jacque Howard singing at Christian City

While COVID-19 is keeping our Senior Care Program from gathering, it hasn’t stopped us from taking fellowship and activities to an outdoor setting where we can socially distance in the open air and enjoy music and exercise.

Some of our Senior Care Program participants live at nearby Christian City, so we have provided two events on their campus that have included music and exercise with oldies music. Two favorites are Love Will Keep Us Together and My Girl. These outdoor events will continue into the fall.

Shelley Mann, Director of Senior Care & Volunteer Services at Southwest Christian Care says, “They love the music, that's the key. Whether Jacque is playing her guitar and singing, or they exercise with the old songs, they come alive!”

In addition to Shelley Mann and Jacque Howard, Jane Wright also assisted with the event along with volunteers, Kimber Atkinson and Raymond Rosano. We are grateful to Elena Raynor in the Active Senior Living department at Christian City for her help and encouragement.
